The growing number of those attracted to the teachings of Bahá’u'lláh and who are desirous of building spiritual community has necessitated the creation of a systematic program for the development of human resources based on spiritual perception and service to others. Together with acquiring the depth of understanding of the fundamental verities of the Bahá’í Faith, essential skills and capacities for service are also learned in order to meet the needs of the community at large. Understanding that the best learning occurs through teaching, the following series of study books take the individual on a continually upward path of learning and teaching, of reflection and action, of self-improvement and service to others.

BOOK 1 – Reflections on the Life of the Spirit
We would like you to join us in a study of true life and its purpose. The goal of this study is to develop new habits, through reading the Word of God as revealed in the Bahá’í Writings, and to elevate the level of our daily discourse to reflect humankind’s true reality as a spiritual being. During this study we will develop skills and capacities to articulate ideas about studying the Word of God, the importance of daily prayer, and understanding the development of the soul while relating these concepts to our daily life experiences.

BOOK 2– Arising to Serve
One of the requirements of this Age is the rebuilding of community. The two capabilities developed in this book are conversing and deepening on spiritual matters and nurturing others in a spirit of service. We will learn that these capabilities are essential in building community and imparting the Divine Remedy at the collective level. A healthy community requires a spirit of service among its community members, and a simple act of service – home visits to those new to the Bahá’í teachings – is introduced for the first time.

BOOK 3 – Teaching Children’s Classes – Grade 1
BOOK 3a – Teaching Children’s Classes – Grade 2

Bahá’u’lláh teaches us that children are noble beings and says to “regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value” and that “education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures.” When these treasures are revealed through not only the children but adults as well, it will “enable mankind to benefit therefrom.” Many have found that in addition to acquiring skills to teach children’s classes, the teachers have experienced the impact of essential spiritual learning for themselves. All are invited to partake of this spiritual education process for children which includes understanding lesson plans on memorizing the Bahá’í Writings, learning prayers and songs, the practice of participatory games and the encouragement of art.

BOOK 4 – The Twin Manifestations
This book is devoted to helping students acquire a thorough and systematic knowledge of the lives of the two Prophet Founders of the Bahá’í Faith, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh. Its three purposes are: 1) To gain spiritual insights into the significance of this Day and the promises it holds for humanity, 2) To learn to narrate the story of the Báb’s life and gain an appreciation of the potency of His short and dramatic Ministry, and 3) To learn to narrate the story of Bahá’u’lláh’s life and gain an appreciation of the magnitude of the spiritual forces released by Him.

BOOK 5 – Raising Up Animators of Junior Youth Groups
The junior youth group animator training has been developed in response to the urgent need in society for an educational program which at once raises the consciousness of the needs of a segment of society of such importance to the future fortunes of the Faith while at the same time imparting skills and abilities. This is important for all community members to understand as they strive to integrate the junior youth into the events and meaning of service to the community. As we all know, the ills of society are growing in range and power from the media with its inappropriate representation of violence and sexuality to the hopelessness and apathy created by highly materialistic education. There is a crying need for a coherent approach to mental, spiritual and material education.

BOOK 6 – Teaching the Cause
The skills and capabilities derived from this book serve to connect the heart of the teacher with the hearts of those receptive souls to the Divine Message. Important concepts learned include the inseparable dimensions of being and doing and adopting a posture of learning in our approach to effective teaching. The practical skills include learning to formulate personal teaching plans, reflect on the qualities and attitudes of the teacher, and to participate effectively in community teaching projects.

BOOK 7 – Walking Together on a Path of Service
The aim of this study is to prepare tutors who can effectively introduce the series of books to others. In addition there is a special unit dedicated to appreciating and fostering the role of artistic endeavors in the activities of the study circles.
